Foreign Affairs Department
Institute of Private Law actively cooperates with foreign legal and educational organizations.
In 2007 within the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Institute the Conference devoted to the fundamental issues of civil law in the world was held in Yekaterinburg. Professors from the USA, China, Holland, Finland, and Costa Rica participated in it. At the present time the preparation of the second conference is being carried out.
Our partners
China
A partnership was established with some of Beijing universities. We have carried on correspondence with Russian and Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Some members the of the institute often go for business to Beijing and representatives of Beijing companies and institutions visit Yekaterinburg to have practical training. During 2009 professor Wan Xiaoming (law faculty director of Chinese Union University) and Yue Feitao (director of one of the leading Chinese law firms «XinXing lawfirm») have visited Yekaterinburg.
In September 2009 a Chinese delegation – representatives of China New Entrepreneur Development Program Club visited Yekaterinburg to discuss regional and national conditions on related investment environment, taxation policies, foreign exchanges control with regional and local authorities of Svedlovskaya oblast and Yekaterinburg.
The USA
We cooperate with the USA lawyer Daniel Irwin Simon. In 2006 he gave a course of lecturers on international insurance law to the students of the Ural department of the Russian School of Law.
Germany. Holland
Within the educational activities of the Russian School of Law the students, specialists and staff members of the Russian School of Law and the Institute of Private Law have an opportunity to undergo a study course at University of Bonn, Germany and Leiden University, Holland.
France. Italy
Through the intermediary of the Institute of Private law a book «Civil Code of France and the Prospects for the development of private law in Russia» written by Sergey S. Alexeev was issued in France. Specialists of the Institute have carried out a major work to translate into Russian and to publish a book «The Aims and the Necessity of Comparative Jurisprudence» by Ernst Rabel. Another his book «The main features of Roman Private Law» was translated into Russian with the assistance of the Institute.
During the visit of Sergey S. Stepanov, the Director of the Institute of Private law to France he had some important meetings with the representatives of Justice Department of France, National School for Judges (L’École nationale de la magistrature) and some legal firms.
After some meetings with the representatives of UNIDROIT (Rome) and University of Trento,the Institute established close ties with the organizations and, in particular with Professor Herbert Kronke (Secretary General of UNIDROIT), Frederik Mestre (Higher Senior Officer of UNIDROIT), Bettina Maxion (Librarian of UNIDROIT) and Laura Tikanvaara (Internships & Scholarships UNIDROIT Library)
India
The Institute collaborates with some universities in India, especially with National Law University, Jodhpur. We try to determine joint interests in the sphere of education, research and publishing activity.
Finland
The Institute established contacts with the universities of Lapland and have a correspondence with Professors Leena Lehtinen and Juha Tolonen.
Costa Rica
We carry on a correspondence with the Law Faculty of University of San Jose, Costa Rica. In 2007 professors from the university took part in the Symposium that was hold in Yekaterinburg. In the nearest future we are planning to organize the symposium in Costa Rica.
